The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Labode Popoola, has stated that students owing tuition fees will henceforth be prevented from writing examinations.
Professor Popoola dropped the bombshell at the 10th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2016/17 academic session of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor lamented that the students’ debt from unpaid tuition fees had increasingly soared to N2 billion, which necessitated a tough decision.
Professor Popoola said, “The recent audit of the payment of fees reveals that the University is being owed over Two Billion Naira. This unwholesome trend must stop. The University has therefore, decided that no students will be allowed to write examinations without full payment of all prescribed fees.”
The Vice-Chancellor further assured the University community and its partners that the institution will ensure accountability and a judicious use of the dwindling financial resources allocated to it in the period of economic recession.
